4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR & COMMUNITY EVENTS


Join us for a day of celebration! The City of Calabasas will proudly host the community's annual 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular at Calabasas High School on Thursday, July 4, 2019. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and the fireworks show begins at 9:00 p.m. The family-oriented, fun-filled event will feature live music, a free family fun zone with a balloon artist, inflatable rides, crafts, games and the grand fireworks display!

 

Before the Fireworks Spectacular, the City will feature a day full of free events for the community.

Michael Russo was named as the Media and Information Services Director for the City of Calabasas, effective Monday, June 24, 2019. Russo replaces former director Deborah Steller who has relocated with her family to Northern California.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL: HISTORIC SITE MARKERS


The City of Calabasas has just posted a request for proposals to design, fabricate and install nine historic markers at seven designated historical sites throughout the City. The markers will commemorate structures, locations and objects of historic significance throughout the City.

CATCH A RIDE ON THE BEACH BUS


The Calabasas Summer Beach Bus program offers residents of Calabasas and Hidden Hills easy public transit between Calabasas and Zuma Beach. Riders pay a small $2.00 fee each way and Summer School Pass holders ride free!

CALABASAS CITY COUNCIL PASSES RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION


The Calabasas City Council has passed Resolution No. 2019-1637, demanding action from State and Federal Representatives to adopt stricter controls governing the sale, transfer, possession, manufacturing, and distribution of all firearms, dangerous weapons, and ammunition. The resolution calls for an outright ban on semi-automatic firearms, high capacity magazines, armor-piercing ammunition, bump stocks, and any other equipment, alteration, or modification that would increase a firearm's capacity for ammunition or rate of fire, as well as reasonable waiting periods and mandated training in the safe use of guns.

APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR THE CITY'S ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW PANEL (ARP)


The City's Architectural Review Panel (ARP) is seeking members to join the panel for a term expiring in December 2020. The ARP, which consists of three members and two alternates, meets twice a month to review the design of proposed projects. The Panel reviews and evaluates site plans, architecture and landscaping to promote projects consistent with City and neighborhood character.

APPLICATIONS FOR CALIFORNIA'S 33RD CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT'S YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL BEING ACCEPTED THROUGH JULY 19


Applications for California's 33rd Congressional District's Youth Advisory Council (YAC) are open and will be accepted through Friday, July 19, 2019 at 5:00 PM. The YAC will work directly with staff in Congressman Ted Lieu's office to collaborate on key issues for young people in California's 33rd district. Students in 9th through 12th grade that live or attend school in the district are eligible to apply.

WATER BOARD PROVIDES FURTHER RELIEF TO RESIDENTS IMPACTED BY THE WOOLSEY FIRE


On November 12, 2018, during the initial response to the Woolsey Fire, the LVMWD Board of Directors declared a state of emergency to immediately authorize assistance to first responders and the cities within the service area, with various actions for the continued support of the response and then the recovery phases of the disaster. Among the authorized actions was for the General Manager to develop policies, in coordination with local cities and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, to expedite processes and minimize costs to those customers who need to rebuild their homes.
